In an article earlier this year, The Independent called CBD "The next Avocado on Toast", making reference to both the huge surge in popularity in the U.K. as well as placing it firmly within the realm of 'Millennial' interest.
But unlike raw cookie dough and, perhaps, ahem, avocado on toast, CBD's appeal spans far beyond that of a restricted group spaning between their 20's and early 30's.
And although it certainly won't live up to the 'cure-all wonder treatment' that some are proclaiming, there are undoubtedly a huge range of benefits to be felt from using CBD that people up and down the country are feeling the effects of.
CBD, or Cannabidoil, is a naturally occurring compound found in the Cannabis Sativa plant (or simply ‘cannabis’, as most of us know it).
It makes up one of 119 different cannabinoids contained within weed and, unlike its cousin THC, is not psychoactive - AKA it does not make you high.
From pet treats to chocolate - CBD has gone from being a niche, controversial substance to the new avocado on toast. In fact, a report compiled by the Centre for Medical Cannabis estimated that CBD market could be worth almost £1bn a year by 2025 in the U.K.
CBD’s rapidly increasing popularity has been shown to span across all consumer age groups and classes with many indicators suggesting the current ‘hype’ is here to stay.
The most popular use for CBD in the U.K. has been for anxiety although reported uses include pain, inflammation and yes, even hangovers.
Studies have suggested that CBD affects 5-HT1A receptors which control the levels of serotonin in our bodies. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter which plays a key role in maintaining mood balance.
CBD also stimulates Endocannabinoid receptors which affect our stress and energy levels.
Together, this means that combined in a cocktail or a large G&T, the addition of CBD could make the drinker feel more relaxed and less anxious in a social environment, enabling them to engage with more confidence.
We believe (from plenty of road testing our product!) that infusing CBD into cocktails can truly add something a little more exciting than a grapefruit slice to your Friday night drink.
That's why we've taken quality, full-spectrum CBD extract from Colarado grown hemp and infused it into everyone's favourite drink - gin.
Our CBD extract is flavourless so you don't have the bitter taste that you find in oils. Just delicious floral gin that packs a punch.
After all, why does gin just have to be about boring old copper stills?
